Pay Attention to How You Ask

by Joyce Shafer

Mark Twain said, "The difference between the right word and the wrong word is like the difference between lightning and the lightning bug."

There are two words that people use liberally, including me until recently. You see these words in ads, articles, books, hear them used repeatedly: Financial Freedom.

So, what's my beef about that?

Financial Freedom is supposed to mean debt-free with more than enough money for whatever we choose. We think we understand what we mean when we use these two words as a phrase, but here's something to consider: Anyone who is homeless, imprisoned, or deceased has financial freedom.

We also say we want to manifest or create something in our lives. The moment we think about something, if it doesn't already exist, now it does and is on its way to us. If we don't really want it, we usually have time to shift that energy and stop giving it attention. Whether something we desire or fear, our thought has set into motion the expansion of it in or into our lives.

The quantum field responds to our deepest feelings. Not our words. This is why I've mentioned before that you can utter and write affirmations like crazy, but unless your feelings are aligned with your affirmations, you're going to get more of what you focus your attention on. Usually, our attention is focused on what we desire to change, what's wrong and needs "fixing," not on what we really choose to have. If you're affirming financial freedom and your feelings are attached to, "I need more money," well, you're probably going to find yourself needing more money for a while or financially free but not in the way you meant to be. You probably mean abundance and prosperity.

We already have abundance and prosperity in our lives. It's all around us. It's our birthright as expressions of the expanded consciousness. All that's required of us is that we expand our experience of it, allow it into our lives. That's where our conflict lies, isn't it? We've been told the opposite for so long by so many, we're not always comfortable or confident about flipping the switch from "lacks" to "enjoys," or even better, embraces.

I use Robert Scheinfeld's technique and write a letter to my expanded self to request what I desire to add or expand in my life. A perfect sample of this is found in his book, "The 11th Element." I've never been disappointed in the results, and often am amazed at what shows up, and usually with the speed in which it expands into my life.

We really don't have to struggle. There are tools and more tools available that can assist us to get into head and heart alignment and our feeling vibrations in synch with what we instruct the quantum field to provide to us.

Pay attention to your words and feelings today. Do they reflect what you truly desire to expand?
