Healthy Leaders

by Carrie Fleharty

Leaders need to strive to become physically, mentally, and sprititually healthy. A successful leader is someone who understands the roll of health and total well being. A successful leader will promote health and wellness throughout their business.

Outstanding leaders will make the time to connect with all aspects of their mind, body and soul, which thus provides a balanced leader. A healthy person is always a better person. Likewise a healthy leader is always a better leader.

Leaders can easily create high blood pressure by not taking the time to relax during the day. They also tend to conduct business 24/7 or at least make an attempt. We all know that high blood pressure could create heart disease. What good will your business be if you are not there to focus on your business or organization.

To become a healthy leader you need to make sure you connect all aspects of your wellness: body, mind and soul. The mind of a leader sometimes is often considered to be the most important aspect of being a good leader, but there is more.

The mind needs to be sharp, knowledgeable, quick thinking and capable of handling all sorts of managerial stress and problems. The mind of a leader is a major component to the success of a business, company, or an organization. The mental aspect of a leader is vital to the organization, but should not become the only aspect.

To become a successful leader the health of the physical body is equally as important. A very healthy body, and a healthy lifestyle brings about a feeling that the leader makes good choices for himself. The healthy leaders of today will become an example for others to become physically healthy.

Leaders should require everyone to have one year physicals from their own doctors. Here's a thought: Maybe the leader of the company should provide one full paid day for yearly routine physicals. The healthy body is equally important as a healthy mind.

The soul represents your spiritual life. The spiritual life reflects people's attitude, productivity, and interactions among the world that your business serves.

This does not mean that anyone would flaunt and proselytize religion. No, this just means that you respect your own spiritual views, and show respect to others in theirs. Truth of the matter is that you will be a better leader if you honor others soul as well as your own. Life comes at you fast, and taking the time to connect spiritualy during the day helps to make the day easier.

Through prayer and/or meditation allows the body to become healthy and your mind clearer. Twenty minutes a day is a good time limit to refresh yourself, your mind and your soul. This twenty minutes could be 10 minutes in the morning, and in the afternoon, or during lunch.

Leaders need to have a clear mind, and a healthy body, and a deeply connected soul. The goal of becoming a better leader is being connected to each: the mind, the body and the soul. One without the other will cause chaos and then your organization will become non-productive and disorganized.

The company, business, or organization will prosper if everyone connects to their own body, mind and soul. Make today the day that you begin connecting to your body, mind and soul. There is no better time to stanrt than now. Put forth a plan today to become aware of your physical and mental health, and your soul.
