What Separates the Network Marketing Pros from the Amateurs?

by Joshua Nelson

Network Marketing Pro's Sort and never sell!

I have taught network marketing for over four years now and have studied what separates the pro's from the amateurs. I have come to find that the pro's have become master sorter's and never sell. The purpose of this article is to fine tune your thinking to master the art of sorting. This is not a sales business! We do not get paid to convince people into our businesses. We get paid to sort through people to find the one's that will.

What is sorting?

Sorting is the ability to move through people quickly without attaching emotions to the process. The reason most people quit network marking is because they attach expectations to people's responses like, Oh this guys in for sure or I know this person will show up to tonights meeting. Have you ever done that? We all have! The second people don't live up to our expectation, we tend to get frustrated and emotional. The emotions get in the way of the sorting process and begin to slow us down. Eventually if we keep setting expectations on peoples responses, we reach a point of emotional drainage and begin making excuses to quit; This doesn't work, No one wants to join my business, I'm just not a sales person. Understand this, NO one has ever failed at network marketing but many have gotten frustrated with learning the process and quit before they became good. They could have been one conversation away from a breakthrough and they gave up!

Professionals learn to move through people quickly. Present the opportunity or your product or service and get a "yes" or a "no." Pro's understand that this business is a numbers game. No's and Yes's don't matter as much as the number of people you are talking to. Some will join your business, some will not. Some will try your services or products, some will not. By not setting expectations to people's responses, you become a presentation machine and the law of averages is now in your favor. Remember some WILL, some WILL NOT. Not everyone drinks coffee, but Starbucks is a multi-billion dollar company because some do. Does Starbucks get emotional when someone doesn't want their coffee? Absolutely not! As a matter a fact doesn't that sound silly. What if Mac Donalds shut down tomorrow because someone said NO to a big mac? Some will, some will not. Just keep moving.

Lastly, learning to sort is a process as well. As human beings we always expect. Become aware of this process and practice. Next time someone tells you no, it may take you an hour to get over it and move on. The next no might take 30 minutes. Eventually, a NO will sit with you for a minute and you'll move on. Remember this word it will make you millions in this business.....NEXT! Don't get emotional! This is a business not a hobby and always remember, NEXT, NEXT, NEXT! The next person you talk to may be your superstar, just never quit and keep moving!
