How Careful Are You With The Decisions That You Are Making Today

by Hani Al-Qasem

Although we are at the beginning of a new year, we are already heading towards the end of January.

Yes, time does fly, doesn't it? Let's take a reality check here.

I am sure many of you have come up with your New Year resolutions, or wishes for this year. The question is, how many have come up with goals, ambitions, aspirations or dreams?

How many of you wrote them down and put them in places where you will see them all day long, or at least many times during the day?

Resolutions are merely wishes, and these wishes are very weak in nature. To convert the wishes to meaningful goals, the wishes must resonate deeply within you; resonate to the point that it hurts you to remain in that situation or keep the same harmful habits.

Your first step then is to identify and come up with at least ten significant and important goals and aspirations that you want to achieve this year.
The second step, for your goals and aspirations to be effective, you are better off writing them down, by hand, and placing them in strategic places where your eye naturally glances. This way the goals will repetitively be seen by your conscious and unconscious minds.

Consciously, you will be reminded to take action towards your goals. And unconsciously, you will 'naturally' be drawn to taking all the necessary steps to make your goals a reality.

A great combination of directed and focused efforts.

When you consistently think about your goals and ambitions, in any area of your life; your career or business, your health and fitness, your financial area, you will feel and see results before too long.

By repeatedly seeing your handwritten goals, you will direct your focus and thoughts on those goals, and, in doing so, you will increase the power of your commitment and motivation to achieving those aspirations.

You can go another step further. Why don't you put your favourite music on, crank up the volume, place all the magazines that you have in your home around you on the floor, and use those sharp scissors of yours to cut out all the pictures that relate to all of your ten goals.

It is important to choose the pictures that affect you deeply in some way. Let them 'hit you' deep in your emotional bank. For example, if you really, really want to lose weight, find a picture of a person who is your ideal weight. You can even cut out your face from a photo and place it on top of his or hers.

Cut out as many pictures that are relevant to each goal and either place them in a file, a notebook, on a cork board. Wherever they are visible.

I use this idea slightly differently. I scoured the Internet for days and weeks until I came up with a good amount of pictures and images that reflected all my ten goals. Now I simply put on my favourite CD (entitled My Feel Awesome Music) and I put the earphones on and turn up the music as loud as my ears could bear.

I sit in my chair swaying and rocking to my music as I watch my pictures and images on my computer as a slide show. I get hugely emotional. I often catch myself screaming, "Yes, that's me" or "Yes, that's mine." Now I even 'see' myself in the pictures.

Undoubtedly and extremely, extremely powerful method.

Try it out for yourself. Compile your very own feel awesome CD and watch the slideshow before you go to work and just before you sleep, and anytime in between.

If you don't like this way, glue your pictures in a notebook. Go through your notebook over breakfast and before you retire. And why not take it with you to work?

This way your goals will manifest much faster that any other way. This is one form of visualisation. And by saying, "I did it" during and at the end of the slideshow, or during and after going through your notebook, is a form of affirmation.

And these two are the most powerful methods you can use to reach your goals, aspirations and dreams. Do them daily as often as you can. The more you repeat this, the more effective it will be and the sooner your goals will materialise.

Remember, repetition is the mother of all skill.

Make it your decision now to decide what kind of future you want. Once you have decided, turn it into pictures so you can 'see' it daily.

It is the decisions that you make today that affect your future.
