HOW TO DELICIOUSLY DELIBERATELY DREAM!

by Laurie Santos

After working as a federal officer for several years and supervising a caseload of folks who had violated the law and/or other people, I realized I was utterly miserable. I couldn't believe I had allowed myself to get to this state as I had always considered myself to be such a "go-getting" optimist who had pretty much achieved all that I had set out to do. So, what went wrong? Why was I not living my life according to my dreams and my passions? It seemed as though I had actually lost sight of what my visions were while working my terribly draining job that focused solely on what others needed and/or wanted to do in THEIR lives. I was so emotionally spent by the day's end that I could not even devote the time to deliberately create my dreams or maybe I just thought it was "too late." Thank goodness I quickly turned this thinking all around. And, once I did, I managed to attain a ton of abundance and change in a very short amount of time. With you, I wish to share my 5 "D's" of Deliberate Dreaming. I guarantee that if you put these steps into motion immediately you will deliberately dream up newfound love, success, wealth and happiness. Ready? Here we go!

The first "D": Dream-Digesting (vs. discarding). Don't throw your dreams away, let them "sink in", digest them and "feel" them. Give yourself permission to dream! It is okay! Notice what comes up in the way of your five senses when you tune into your dreams. For instance, what does it feel like? Perhaps silk sheets! What does it taste like? Perhaps champagne! Now, take a moment to write out your dreams and envision living them out. Also, be sure to include all the sounds, tastes, smells, etc. attached to these dreams.

The second "D":Discard deceptive and destructive thoughts/feelings. Notice and identify the obstacles you are putting in the way of capturing your dreams and living out your passions. These obstacles may be but not limited to: emotional, psychological, physical, spiritual or environmental. Now, replace the deceptive and destructive self-speak with positive verbiage, such as, "I have this, I am appreciative for, I am grateful for, I own this, etc." instead of,¢ï¿½ï¿½ I could never do this, I could never have that, etc." Take a moment to write out now your personal obstacles as well as the negative statements you regularly say to yourself.

The third "D": Be detached from the outcome. Surrender to your dreams and set the intention to get them without worrying what the outcome will be. Be detached from social expectancy and the judgment of others. Being detached means you are willing to stop the self-sabotage and shift perspectives to help get you out of "stuck."

The fourth "D": Dream in a determined and dedicated way. Allow yourself to dream daily with determination. Allow nobody, including yourself, to get in your way! This means you truly believe in your gut that you are going to get to where you need to go somehow. You should note that it is not important how you will get there. Once you have devoted a special time each day to visualize yourself living out your dream-job, in your dream-house, with your dream-partner, you will naturally be guided to where you need to go in order to get the things you want. Now, I want you to write down a daily time that you are willing to dream. Perhaps it is first thing in the morning or right before you go to bed. My motto: JUST FIVE MINUTES A DAY BRINGS YOUR DREAM-LIFE YOUR WAY!

The fifth and final "D": Develop a plan and devote time to it. Name your dream then set goals/intentions around that dream. Take action-steps in order to maintain the momentum. Identify the obstacles and create possible solutions. Find a way to stay accountable to your plan.

I would like for you to now write out five ways you will hold yourself accountable. Some suggestions include: hiring a coach, journaling daily, creating vision boards, using email reminders, or discussing your plan with a spouse. Lastly, create a reward system and praise yourself when you make any forward movement toward your dream. Have fun putting your rewards into place! Now, take some time to write out the ways in which you would like to reward yourself.

So, there you have it, five simple steps to get you on your way! All you need to do is start today.
In today's world where many say it is not possible to do what we truly desire, I have to admit that I am genuinely enjoying bucking the system by living out what I was called to do. So, I dare you to join me and I dare you to dream!
